Dr. Calvin H. Warne was an optometrist in Mason City for 35 years. Thus it is appropriate that his children are providing an annual scholarship for students in either the Optometric Assistant Program or Pre-Optometry.
Only three years following his retirement, Dr. Warne passed way in August 1992. It was the decision of his family to supplement memorial gift funds in order to form a permanent endowment.
The interest from the endowment in intended to provide tuition and books for qualified students. Stephanie said, “The book thing was kind of important to us. Dad loved book, and when he was in optometry school in Memphis, TN, it meant a lot to him to be able to afford them.
