Connie Scherber

Connie Scherber created this scholarship to honor the memory of her late husband, Patrick, who passed away in April of 2006 following a brave fight with cancer. Patrick’s hobby of purchasing, refurbishing and selling late model cars presented Connie with the inspiration for this scholarship honoring her husband’s memory.

The scholarship is designated for an Automotive Service Technology student from the Area 2 or Southern Minnesota area, with preference given to a non-traditional student continually demonstrating quality mechanic skills and a good work ethic.

Patrick knew very well the importance of a higher education having graduated from Bemidji State College with a degree in education.  He worked throughout southern Minnesota as an educator and consultant while continuing to further his own education. In 1978, Patrick moved to Iowa and worked as a special education consultant for Northern Trails AEA 2 and later AEA 267 until his retirement in 2005.

Patrick touched the lives of countless students and their families with his years of education employment and in establishing The Patrick Scherber Automotive Scholarship his spirit will continue to touch the lives of many students.
