Sandy Kreiger, of Mason City, established the Bob Krieger Memorial Scholarship as a tribute to her husband, Bob, who passed away August 1, 2004. Sandy noted that sponsoring a scholarship provides an opportunity to impact someone else’s life. “Bob believed in the importance of education as a means of improving yourself,” said Sandy. “Education is so important for today’s youth, and a little help along the way is appreciated.”
Bob was originally from Chicago, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in system analysis from University of Illinois. In January 1991 he was one of the co-founders of Team Quest Corporation, a software engineering company in Clear Lake, serving as its President and Chief Executive Officer. He formed Team Quest Foundation to organize and assist non-profit entities in enhancing the use of technology in their daily operations.
Bob was involved in many organizations which included, board member of Mason City Economic Development Corp., Mason City Barbershop Chorus and quartet, the Iowa Traction Railroad, and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
The Bob Krieger Memorial Scholarship will benefit engineering students while at NIACC or as they transfer to Iowa State University. Recipients of this award must be enrolled full-time at either NIACC or Iowa State University, have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and major in pre-engineering or engineering.
